Bir Billing is located in West Joginder Nagar district of Himachal Pradesh. It is referred to as the paragliding capital of India. The world cup of paragliding held in Bir Billing in the year 2015. Bir is also home to a Tibetan refugee settlement with several Buddhist monasteries and a large stupa.

While Billing is the takeoff site for paragliding and Bir for landing; collectively it is known "Bir Billing".

Best Season: Best season to experience paragliding is from October to November and March to June as this time of the year favors the conditions required for paragliding. Paragliding during December-January offers a completely different experience as the mountains are covered with snow and the wind is chilly. Try this if you can dare to bear the cold.

How much it costs: The paragliding will cost anywhere around Rs 1500-2000 for a single session per person.

Flight time: Flight time of one session is between 15-30 minutes.

Route: Take off-site is in Billing and the landing site is in Chougan which goes via Bari.

How safe is paragliding: Paragliding requires lots of skill in taking off, flying and landing as well. But it is safe even if you are flyer or novice as a trained pilot will always be provided to you if you do not have certifications to fly solo. The pilot must have knowledge of airspeed, altitude, clouds, wind, temperature and the route required for safe flight.
